Snow Trails Ski Area to Add New Tubing Park-Vertical Descent

Mansfield, OH (PRWEB) September 3, 2006 -- Over a half-million dollars will be invested to bring a state-of-the-art winter sports facility to North Central Ohio. Snow tubing is one of the fastest growing features in the winter sports industry, according to Dave Carto, president of Snow Trails.

The project includes re-grading the area where the park will be located on the Eastern edge of the slopes. A special conveyor lift and a dedicated snowmaking system plus additional night lighting for the park will be constructed. The capacity of the facility will exceed 1,200 persons per hour.

Thad Philpott, mountain manager, expects the project to be completed and ready for action in plenty of time for the 2006- ’07 winter season which usually begins the first week or so of December. Hours of operation will include both weekends and weekdays, daytime and nighttime sessions.

Reminiscent of the sled-riding days and the dreaded walk back to the top, a tubing park is the modern day solution. Most tubers enjoy sliding belly down while others choose the sitting position for their descent. After coming to a halt at the bottom, it’s no more than a quick walk back to the conveyor lift and off you go on a moving carpet ride, back to the top. The tubing park will be located within sight of the Snow Trails main lodge. Easy access to the tubing area via the parking lot at the base of the resort is planned.

For the non-skier or non-snowboarder it’s an opportunity to enjoy the winter months with friends and family. Snow Trails is located off Interstate 71 south of Mansfield, OH on Possum Run road. For more information call 800-OHIO-SKI or visit the website at http://www.snowtrails.com
