Deer Valley Winter Snow is Not Just for Skiing
When planning a Deer Valley vacation for the wintertime, what usually comes to mind is the awesome downhill skiing that awaits you there. Admittedly, skiing put Deer Valley on the map, but there are plenty of other fun activities that Deer Valleys winter snow provides. Whether you want to commune with nature or have some rip-roaring fun; there is something waiting there for you. If you enjoy taking in the scenery with ease and speed, taking a snowmobile tour is a good option. Deer Valley operates the Summit Meadows snowmobile tours. Tours are held at Garff Ranch which is only five miles from nearby Park Citys historic Main Street. This seven THOUSAND acre ranch can be toured with a guide as individuals or groups. What a great way to enjoy pristine scenery while experiencing the rush of riding a spirited snowmobile. Visitors interested in enjoying the areas untarnished wilderness under their own power have several options. Touring the area by way of cross-country ski or snowshoe is an invigorating, yet relaxing possibility that is sure to help you get into harmony with nature. Especially if you are new to backcountry touring, it is a good idea to take along a guide, although, the flight back to civilization in a Search and Rescue helicopter is a pretty memorable experience. There are many outfitters in Park City offering guide services. The Norwegian Outdoor Center received high scores from Family Fun magazine for their snowshoeing tours. Their programs are available to people of all ages and abilities; including willing children as young as five. This is a great way to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Another great place to snowshoe is the Swaner Nature Preserve. Outfits such as All Seasons Adventures offer additional options including, of all things, dog sledding. There are other family adventures available in winter as well. Park City has its own ice skating rink snuggled away in the hills called the Park City Ice Arena. Another option is lift-served tubing at Gorgoza Park just 10 minutes away. This areas winter beauty has something to offer everyone regardless of age, endurance level, or budget. So decide what avenue for exploration sounds fun for you, bundle up, and head outside! NOTE: Use of this article requires links to be intact.
