Skiing Deer Valley

Deer Valley Resort was given the rating of #1 skiing resort in North America by SKI magazine in 2001 and 2005 and #2 in 2006. This acclaim is based on the amazing setting, luxury, awesome Utah powder, and variety of terrain that Deer Valley has to offer. This skiing resort was home to the slalom, mogul, and aerial events of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Anyone who skis and Deer Vally is never dissappointed by the 3,000 vertical ft. and 1,750 acres of terrain that you can ski on. This is an amazing resort destination for skiers of all abilities.

About 15% of Deer Valleys slopes are rated beginner. This resort is famous for its smooth, groomed runs that are perfect for starters or people who just want to cruise. Bald Eagle Mountain and Little Baldy Peak offer plenty of wide-open trails. Favorite runs for families include Navigator and Success. Lessons are available for skiers of every age and ability. One more nice thing for parents is the free pagers available to alleviate worries about cell phone coverage on the mountain.

For the intermediate or advanced skier, the rest of the mountain is where you should be. The challenging skiing along Bald Mountain, Flagstaff Mountain, and Empire Canyon will be sure to please. Runs of distinction include Know You Dont (site of the 2002 Olympic slalom events) for narrow rock-lined chutes and Champion (site of the 2002 Olympic freestyle events) for steep mogul fields.

Another thing Deer Valley provides is NASTAR racing for any recreational skier. Every Skier is welcome to test their skills against the clock. Deer Valley also has the Slope Tracker GPS System. The technologically saavy skier can take advantage of this system to keep track of all sorts of statistics such as runs skied and vertical feet conquered.

For the adventurous skier, be sure to check out Deer Valleys Tricks n Turns (TNT) Terrain Park located off of the Little Chief chairlift. This park boasts fun double-barrel rails and tabletop jumps. You don't need extraordinary to try this park! Remember absolutely no snowboards are allowed at Deer Valley. The nearby Park City Mountain Resort and the Canyons Resort will receive skiers and boarders and offer their own acres of powdery fun.

Blake Provo works for Blooming Resort Rentals which provides Deer Valley lodging options for area visitors. Also, see the Park City Ski Lounge website they sponsor.
